Using MightyBoyEV - Wheel details and minor Mightyboy mods required.....
(May be useful for the Mightyboy owners out there)
Wheel details:
Starcorp #1403 - 14 x 6.0 (also known as Racing Rally model)
Tyre details:
Marshal Matrac MH11 Unidirectional 165/60/14
High pressure rated (50 psi) if needed for EV use - I've found 36-38 psi a good compromise....
Supplier:
Tempe Tyres
Contact Person:
Dave
Notes: 13" (seems 13 x 5.5 best) wheels with a suitable stud pattern and offset (+40mm) are now very difficult to source.
If you talk nice to Dave he will send out one wheel fitted and balanced to try.
The 60% profile on these new tyres provides the same rolling circumference as my old high profile R12 wheels (1740 mm)
Correction here thanks to Brayden via the Mightyboy forum!
"The wheels look good, but your info on rolling diameter is way off! Standard rolling diameter is 1595mm (145/70 R12), so your new wheel and tyre combination is actually 9% larger in diameter. "
and he is certainly correct... I thought my wheels were standard but they were actually light truck R12 tyres and as such have a 80% (maybe even 100%) profile - hence the 1740 mm circumference.
Thanks to Brayden and his amazingly helpful forum for that correction!
A - shows the only problem I encountered
The large lip on the "bump stop" bracket is too close to the inside of the new (wider) rims and will rub on fast cornering
Grinding off this 1 cm plus lip provided the clearance need with no problems....
Keep in mind all our Mightyboy's will be slightly different with varying ride heights so I would strongly recommend trying the configuration before the big purchase!
